Using Nettica VPN Service with an iPhone

Install Nettica App

The Nettica app for iPhone is a Progressive Web App (PWA) that does not require installation from the Apple App Store. Log in to the Nettica Admin using Safari on your iPhone or iPad to get started.

Click the “Send” button and add the PWA to your home screen:

Finally, click “Add” to confirm:

Install WireGuard

The next step is to install the native WireGuard for iPhone or iPad.

To get started, go to the App Store on your iPhone/iPad and search for and install the official WireGuard client.

Next, click on the newly installed Nettica App on the home screen of your iPhone. Click on the menu icon in the top right and click “Devices”, then click “Add Device”.

Specify the name for your iPhone and click “Submit”

Next, click the blue plus icon to add your device to your VPN.

Next, click on the VPN connection you just created, scroll down, and click “Download”.

Click Download to retrieve the configuration

Click “Download” to download the configuration to your iPhone.

You now have everything you need to configure WireGuard.

Next, click “Open in…”

Select “More”, scroll down, and select the WireGuard app.

The first time you add a VPN it will confirm with some security dialogs. Allow the configuration.

In iOS 15 or later you will receive a notification and may even have to enter your PIN to add the VPN configuration.

Once you have added the configuration toggle it on. Note that there are several configuration options you may want to enable in your WireGuard configuration, such as the on-demand connection feature. Feel free to review and enable them as needed.

Notes

  • On Apple devices, only one VPN may be active at any given time
  • Nettica DNS is not currently available for iOS devices.
